NYPD Sergeant Injured as Shots Were Fired in the Bronx

An NYPD sergeant sustained injuries in the Bronx on Thursday night after gunfire erupted during a scuffle in the Williamsbridge neighborhood, according to police sources.

Initial reports from a high-ranking official suggested the sergeant had been grazed by a bullet to the head, but later updates clarified that he was not shot. Instead, authorities said he fell during the incident and struck his head, resulting in his injuries.

The shooting occurred late Thursday near East Gun Hill Road, where video footage showed a significant police response, including multiple patrol cars and a section of sidewalk cordoned off.

Police have not disclosed what triggered the altercation or whether any suspects have been apprehended.
